The Dream Thieves, the second book in The Raven Cycle series, shines brighter than its predecessor. The characters are given more space for growth and become more accessible for the reader to follow. Ronan's rage and sadness are central, and it was pleasing to see the friendship between Noah and Blue continuing. The novel is honest and intense, leaving the reader on a cliffhanger that will make them crave book three. The story is unparalleled; Ronald's dream-lore is amazing, and there's an incredible atmosphere throughout the story. But the book attempts to handle too many things, leading to predictable conflicts, and the pacing is a bit slow in parts. Moreover, the relationship between the Gray Man and Maura felt somewhat forced. Despite this small hiccup, the book is an exciting and excellent read that ultimately leaves the impression of something great at work.
